Weekly Gaming Recap - March 24th, 2023
We've got impressions and takes left and right from Sanctuary, Middle Earth, New Caledonia, and more!
Preview Season
This week our staff checks in on some exciting upcoming releases to let you know whether they’re worth your time. New releases ease up for the next few weeks so while you chip away at the backlog, consider if these are right for you!
Diablo IV Preview
If the focus of Diablo IV bringing the world of Diablo closer to a live service title had you worried, don’t be. TechRaptor Staff Austin Suther was also worried but upon playing hours and hours of the latest beta he’s “going to lose so much time to Diablo IV”.
Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Tolkien fans, I know some of us (not me) are displeased with the current state of the Lord of the Rings Intellectual Property. With more and more content being created in the world of Middle Earth, an unlikely video game shines through the lows of recent Hobbit romps in Lord of the Rings: Gollum. See why Staff Writer Brittany Alva calls it a “game of the year contender” in her preview.
New Game Reviews
Tchia
The latest title to be compared on Twitter to Breath of the Wild, Tchia launched into PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium tiers this week. Read Staff Writer Keenan McCall’s full review of “one of the best open world games [he’s] played in a long time”.
Dredge
I don’t know if our CEO Rutledge Daugette has ever played Bloodborne, but he opens his review of Dredge with “If you've ever wanted to explore a Lovecraftian world in nothing but a small boat, Dredge will let you live out that dream.” and while I am scared of the ocean that is quite a compelling pitch. Read more about this title in his full review!
