Weekly Gaming Recap 12/15/23 - The Day Before & E3 Are Over
It's certainly been a week, between the launch and unlaunch of The Day Before, a huge win for Epic Games against Google, and the death of E3
What a week - we saw one of the fastest unlaunches of a massively anticipated game, a precedent-setting lawsuit finalize, cancellation of one of the most beloved events in gaming, and a legendary game studio has been hacked. Plus so much more.
The Day Before Was So Bad It Killed the Company
I’ve been watching The Day Before for over a year, as the guides editor, I keep my pulse on the games that have the biggest following. The Day Before had 230,000 followers (2.7m wishlists with the usual 12:1 conversion) before launch and was so immensely hyped up that when we got the first few trailers… fears began to form.
Let’s dive into this one because it’s a doozy, Anson wrote up a great recap of the history of FNTASTIC, and the Day Before’s troubled Development.
E3 Is Dead
Wow. After a change in 2018 to allow the public to join, and then struggles in the post-Pandemic times…E3 is dead. RIP.
